Metal roofs have recently begun to enjoy increased popularity among American home owners. Over the years innovative new technologies have resulted in the fashioning of metal roofs that are sleek, stylish and sophisticated and nothing like the old fashioned tin roofs of old. With metals roofs coming in a variety of recycled materials like copper, aluminum, stainless steel and tin, there are any number of options for the Wichita home owner who has his heart set on a metal roof. Our specialist metal roofing contractors bring years of experience in the metal roofing business and are qualified to deal with all sorts of metal roofing issues and other types of roofing issues, including those involving roofing estimate.
There are numerous advantages to choosing a metal roof. First, there is the obvious advantage of durability. Metal roofs are notoriously tough, and they can often last for the entire lifetime of a house. Metal roofs can withstand the consistent abuse from bad weather and still come out looking great. Metal roofs are also extremely lightweight, which makes them easier, and cheaper to install. Metals roofs can actually be laid over preexisting roofing material, which eliminates the need to tear out the old roofing before installation, which also saves money. Metal roofs are also resistant to bugs, and if properly galvanized, metal roofs are also resistant to rust. Metal roofs are also non combustible, and contrary to popular belief, are not more susceptible to lightning strikes as other roofs. If this does not make you feel safer, you could always use a lightning rod to lightning proof your home. Because they have smooth surfaces, water easily runs off metal roofing, so you do not have to worry about water damage. Additionally, metal roofs do not require much maintenance. Metal roofs can be a little on the expensive side, but the advantages that metal roofing provides more than makes up for the extra expense. Some people complain about the noise when it rains, so remember to ask your Wichita roofing contractors about sound insulation or sheathing to minimize the noise levels.
Installing metal roofing can give your home some extra style. It will also help save you money on repairs and energy bills in the long term. On the other hand, metal roofing materials are not as common as other roofing materials, so their installation should only be trusted to a Wichita area professional metal roofing contractor with experience working with metal roofing materials. The metal used in roofing can expand and contract over time, so the results for your roofing system can be disastrous if not properly installed. Currently have a welded rubber roof on a flat roofed home. I am considering a granular coated epdm roof installed over the existing roof(no tear off) with 1/2" insulation. I've been told the area is approx. 32 squares and that there is around 400 linear feet at the boundary with the mansard shingle roof. The shingles are in good shape and would only be replacing two rows of the shingles around the bottom of the upper mansard(sp?)
